At a daylong Washington gathering September 14, 2010, key players in the enactment of the Clean Air Act of 1970 focused on “The 40th Anniversary of the Clean Air Act: Public Health Improvements, Technology Advancements, and Remaining Air Quality Challenges.”
RFF President Phil Sharp and former United States Senator John Warner discuss the importance of the legislation, recall how the bill progressed through Congress, and their roles in passage of key amendments to the Clean Air Act in 1990.
The session is moderated by Tom Jorling, former vice president of International Paper Company and former minority counsel to the United States Senate Committee on Public Works. The conference was jointly sponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Bipartisan Policy Center.
