In Focus: Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanisms

On December 18, Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) and Congresswoman Suzan DelBene (D-WA) reintroduced the Clean Competition Act, a bill intended to boost clean domestic manufacturing and reduce greenhouse gas emissions at home and abroad. New modeling by a team at Resources for the Future finds that the bill would generate roughly $101 billion in revenue over the first 10 years of the policy, which the federal government would then use for industrial decarbonization efforts, if enacted.  Research Associate Katarina Nehrkorn, who worked on the modeling team, compares and contrasts the Clean Competition Act and the recently introduced Foreign Pollution Fee Act in this new In Focus video.
